The following essential functions are those that are critical, integral, necessary, crucial, primary and fundamental to the job. Employees may be required to obtain California State Paramedic Certification (the City will provide the required training). A current State of California or National Registry Paramedic Certification is highly desirable. A current State of California and Los Angeles County Paramedic Certification/Accreditation is highly desirable. Certification from a local accreditation (LA County DHS) or paramedic certification must be obtained prior to the completion of the initial twelve months of employment as a Firefighter. Upon appointment of employment to the position of Firefighter, employee shall be required to maintain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.) or Paramedic. Under direct supervision, performs emergency operations, participates in fire prevention activities to assist in operating and maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment maintain fire stations and other related duties. *Failure to attach required documents to your online application at the time of submission will result in disqualification.
